Happy New Year!
If there’s one experience that unites humanity during this time of year it’s the daily internal struggle we face when seeing our 2016 calendar still hanging on the wall. Maybe we’ll put up the 2017 calendar tomorrow… when we finally take the Christmas decorations to the attic and move the family Christmas cards from the fridge to the trash can, (feeling a quick tinge of guilt – until we realize they are doing the same with our family photos and well-wishes.)
“That can wait till tomorrow,” – you may say – “I need another day to digest all those Christmas meals and get-togethers before I can deal with all the emotional stirring that comes with the changing of the calendar.” All the introspection, retrospection, (and whatever the official term is for forward-spection is,) as we realize that yet another year has slipped by, and we come to terms with how few of last year’s resolutions were upheld. Why would this year bring any change either?
In a future post I am planning on discussing the Biblical basis for missionaries raising support to be in the ministry, but right now I’d like to lay out our Need, our Hope, and our Vision.
Our Need, we believe, is relatively modest. In order to be 100% supported, we are looking to have $2200 in monthly support by the end of June.
Our Hope is that you will join our network of partners who commit to regularly pray for us, or financially support us (or both!) – making our ministry in Hungary possible.
Our Vision is that through the wonder of modern communication tools, this group of individuals and churches will truly feel like a team, sharing not only in our own prayer requests and praises, but each other’s as well, as we share and encourage each other as a networked group of believers linked by our common interest of seeing Christ’s church strengthened through evangelism and the discipleship of young believers involved with WOL Hungary.
Do you think you might be able to help us reach our goal? (Oh, and it doesn’t have to be $30 or $50 – we have people supporting us for amounts ranging from $10-75/month.) Even if you can’t commit personally, might you know someone at your church, small group, Sunday School, Bible Study, or perhaps a family member that might be interested in hearing more about our ministry plans? We would love to talk with them!
Lili and I have over 1000 friends on Facebook, is there anyone in your friends list/address book/Rolodex that you could contact for us?
In the meantime, we’re also looking for a house to rent in Tóalmás. I know it’s a long shot, but if you know someone who has one… don’t be shy!
