Prayers for Ukraine

Late Friday afternoon we received word that the staff of Word of Life Ukraine had decided to try and make it across the Hungarian border. By that time, the Ukrainian government had declared that Ukrainian men aged 18-60 will not be allowed to leave the country. In the early morning hours of Saturday, a bus and a few cars arrived to our property with about 45 people – mostly women and children.

Please pray for these families. They are currently facing an uncertain future with their homes and loved ones still in Ukraine. Some of them have medical needs.

Please pray especially for a 3-year old boy named Simeon. He had an extremely serious and specialized surgery scheduled in Kyiv in the coming days. Obviously that won’t be possible anymore. By God’s grace, he and his mother will be flying to Italy where there is a doctor who can perform this special surgery.

Please pray for a quick end to this war on Ukraine. Please pray for God’s protection for their family members. Pray that God would comfort them in this uncertainty.

Pray for all the refugees and the people working to help them. As of Monday, February 28th, the UN estimates 500,000 Ukrainians had left the country. Some estimates say there could be 10x as many, up to 5 million.

Here is where they are now:

Pray that the people of the neighboring countries would be sympathetic to those who have left their homes. Pray that God would use our churches to give both physical help and spiritual hope with the Gospel to the Ukrainian people.

Hungary is not the only Word of Life field in Europe caring for refugees. Other locations such as Poland, Czechia, Romania, and others, are already working with those who have left Ukraine.
