We Became Parents 8 Years Ago

Dear Friends,

IMG_20190208_190656Amy celebrated her 8th birthday (which happened to be her Golden Birthday) a week ago. She was so excited to turn 8.
(For those of you who are not sure what a “Golden Birthday” is: it is when someone turns the age of their birth day. Amy was born on the 8th, so her’s was now, when she turned 8.)

When do we stop being excited to turn a year older and wish we were younger? When I talk to children, they often mention how they cannot wait to be older. As soon as Haley turned 4, she started to ask when she will be 5. For months she woke up asking, “How many more days until I turn 5?” My thought was: Enjoy being 4!
Once we hit a certain age we want each year to last longer, until then, we want them to go by fast.

IMG_20190215_111615Joshua is turning into a toddler, and it’s so much fun to watch. He loves to make us laugh and he enjoys playing with his sisters. The girls often fight over whose turn it is to play with him. 🙂 Joshua loves to organize his toys (or his food), so he often puts them in a container, then pours them out and starts again. He also started to enjoy looking at books.

5 students from our fellowship group came over for a sleepover last weekend. Chris and I stayed up until 2 am with them, but then decided to go to sleep for a few hours before we needed to wake up to send our kids to school. I am pretty sure I am still tired from staying up that one night. 🙂 When I had no children, staying up was no problem. Now that I have to stay up and take care of them all day, staying up is torture. This week we had a night when at 8:45 pm we all (all 5 of us) were asleep in our beds.

Different news: We like to play different card games and board games with the students who come over (as well as guest teachers and friends), and we decided that our current table that seats 8 is just not big enough for us anymore. We bought a new extendable table that can fit up to 12-14 people. We cannot wait for it to arrive and for more of us to be able to fit around the table as we play.

How can we pray for you? Send us a message with your prayer requests so we can pray for them!
